WALT: find the area and then volume of a shape.

Success criteria
Find the area by following the given rule.
Find the volume by multiplying area x height of a shape.

Today we are going to continue developing your skills in finding the area and volume.
The easy way to work out the area of a shape is to follow the rule.

Finding the area of a square or rectangle is base x width.
Finding the area of a triangle is 1/2 the base x the height.

Enjoy our Healthy Vegetable of the day, Carrots, they are pre-washed, and cut ready to enjoy. Some of us sampled them as we prepared them ready for you to have and they are crunchy, fresh and very tasty.

Headphones: Headphones have to be individually issued, priority of issue is the person to whom they are allocated, should they not wish to use them their allocation can be signed out to someone who no longer has working Headphones, you will have to sign them out and sign them in. From next year you will, as part of your stationery requirements need your own ear buds or head phones, a lot of you are already supplying your own, this is great to see as then you have care and overview of your own equipment.

So proud of our Kapa Haka students, we really enjoyed watching the live stream from Taupo of your performance. You were awesome.

We have noticed a few people choosing to wear incorrect uniform, caps, shoes, long pants/tights and sweatshirts on a regular basis. We also have people wearing long sleeved shirts under the school short sleeved polo fleece. This is not permissible and with the spring season here, unnecessary. As you all know the school rule and are not participating in showing Manaakitanga for our Uniform and school, the choice is to remove and hand to teachers to keep in the office for the day, or go to Deans but there will be no more warnings. Those whose items need replacing please discuss this with your whanau and arrange to get yourself properly equipped during the holidays.

Timetable changes, as we are appearing to run on empty a bit and a bit of a go slow is happening we are slightly altering the teaching times.Reading will take place in block 3 so the awesome writing we have happening can also be brought to publication on our blogs.

Literacy- Writing Your task today is to have two pieces of your recent writing ( as a minimum) published on  your blog HOWEVER it must have been proofed by a teacher before publishing. Once these are published and signed off, choose one of the writing tasks you have missed and do a draft to share with a buddy.

1.10 - 2.10 READING  You will be doing 20 minutes silent reading of your Novel, then you will have your chrome book issued to.. On google classroom is your KNWL chart to be filling in when your silent reading time is over, and then the Research /Activities on Google classroom that you must do a minimum of two to a high standard.
2.10 - 2.40 -  INQUIRY - Water , revisit what you have been asked to do to pass the assessment.

Good morning everyone, we hope you have had a great weekend. Welcome back to our AIMs games netballers, we missed you last week, and were pleased to hear of your successes and the way you responded positively to some very hard games.
We are also very pleased to have some absolutely awesome writing being handed in to us, once proofing is complete we are looking forward to seeing them published on your blogs so others can read your great work.
Please remember, as well as our sharing time before each block starts, where we share tasks, answer queries and offer support, the blog has all you need to know to set your work programme, so try hard to manage this and re read the blog for clarification rather than ask "What do I do now?" or choose to play a game because you have "finished" and believe you are entitled to "free" time. "Free" time is what you have at home on your own family devices, games are what you play at home, we are all here to learn and do the best we can, one of which is managing how we use our devices and complete our work. We still have no one completing all work set in the time expected, or to the Curriculum level 5 that is our aim, so free and play has not yet been earnt by anyone.

Congratulations all the deserved recipients of MANA certificates and bands yesterday. We are so proud of you all, 2 have gained their AWHINA Band, 23 AKO and 27 MANAAKITANGA. Remember to keep handing these in to staff and remember those with more than 15 can do a trade to other categories early in term 4.
Block 3 yesterday was a hub of focus from many, great to see Blogs getting updated with great work.

REMINDERS:  CAPS must come off as you enter the school gates and remain off at all times in school, especially in classrooms, two of you are failing to abide by this rule. FOOD , fruit, lollies and lunch items are not to be eaten in the common, warnings are tiresome, walking to the Deans will be next step for many as letters home and our continual requests are being ignored which is most disappointing, so we will be asking for you to be supported to make the correct decision through Deans and Daily Reports.

THURSDAY 1st SEPTEMBER - First day of Spring

Good Morning Everyone

We have had a great meeting yesterday,talked about how we can tweak things to make it better for all, teachers and students, and will be starting some changes that we discuss today in Whanau time.

These are the things we need to all remember to do to make our day a more positive start.
1. We will line up outside the sliding door, as we come in we will quickly sort our uniform out and move straight to the Targeted Zone for Whanau meeting.
2. After Karakia and Roll call, we will share the key points of the lesson for block one and show on the big screen. This is your time to ask for extra help if you need it and to seek clarification of the instructions.
3. Chrome Books will be issued, after re reading the blog and instructions please can you make sure you belong to the Google Classroom of your Whanau Teacher so as you turn you work in it goes to your Whanau Teacher for assessing as we now have 3 teachers to share the marking. After that is done you will start Math. ALL Math will be completed in your Math Book.
